Yeah, I reacted on this Ballen's reportagae as well. First looking at the pics it's kinda confusing because you clearly see they are set ups, but at least I still immediately took it as a reportage (though reportage is mostly seen as a way to tell how things "really" are, a true story). But then he of course states himself as well that his serie is also a study of the boundaries between reportage and art. I think his serie works very well, of course the viewer has to understand that it is very subjective statement, but then again I think this is allowded even with reportage, as long as it is acknowledged by the photographer. I also like his imagery a lot. Interesting project.
